A B2B buyer persona template is a one-page profile of a typical buyer, built from real data about your customers. It captures who they are, the company they work for, their role in the buying process, and what drives their decisions.
It gives sales, marketing, and RevOps one reference point for targeting, messaging, and pricing, so every team is working toward the same buyer.
Who is it for?
It’s for RevOps professionals who want sales and marketing working from the same definition of their target buyer. It’s especially useful if you’re refining your ICP, building lead scoring, planning territories, or checking whether your CAC and lifetime value hold up for each buyer type.
What’s inside the template?
The template has a set of fields you can add to, remove, or swap out, grouped into five areas:
- Who they are: bio, role in the buying process, background, and demographics
- Their company: industry, size, and revenue
- What drives them: personality, responsibilities, goals, challenges, motivators, and validators
- How they buy: why they won’t buy, what closes the deal, and communication preferences
- What they value: most and least valued features, plus price point, CAC, and lifetime value
How to use the template
Start by picking the fields that matter most for your business. We’d recommend no more than 10 per persona, so cut anything that won’t change how your teams sell or market.
Fill in each field using data, not assumptions. Pull firmographics and deal values from your CRM, and get input from sales on objections and what closes deals. Customer interviews are the best source for goals, challenges, and motivators.
Create one profile per persona, then share them with sales and marketing. Revisit them at least once a year, or whenever your win rates, deal sizes, or customer mix change.
